Cairngorm made its US premiere at the 18th Annual Lady Filmmakers Festival in Los Angeles, screening at the historic Fine Arts Theatre in Beverly Hills, where it was awarded Best Dance Short Film and Best Experimental Film.
Set in the heart of the Scottish Highlands, Cairngorm is a visual ode to the wild beauty and ever-changing life cycle of the Cairngorms National Park. Guided by an original song by Scottish musician Stevie Macleod, the film follows a folkloric, goddess-like embodiment of nature as she moves through beauty, desolation and rebirth. Through landscape, movement and costume, the film explores the forces of time, humanity and the elements upon a place that has endured and transformed for generations. In July 2026, devastating wildfires swept through the Cairngorms, affecting many of the landscapes in which the film was shot.
Cairngorm has since taken on an unexpected poignancy: a film conceived as a celebration of a landscape in constant transformation has become a record of places now profoundly changed, preserving a moment of their wild beauty before the fires.
