Officially Introducing: JM by Jodie Mann

Jodie Mann LTD

I want to kick this post off by saying Happy New Year! We made it through yet another 12 months of pandemic-riddled insanity and uncertainty. If you're reading this now then I applaud you, and don't give up now.

For me - after a solid 10 years of precariousness, terror and resounding joy that is being an image-maker in my 20s - I've come full circle with my latest venture: J|M.

This isn't hugely different to what it has been the last couple of years, but it is far stronger and of course, hugely exciting.

As many of you will know, I created a fantastic partnership back in mid 2019 PENNMANN with Photographer - and now filmmaker - Rod Penn. You can read the story behind that here. Working as a Photographer can, in many ways, be a very lonely thing. A huge chunk of your time is spent alone - working on images, admin & finances, marketing yourself, shoot prep, creating new ideas etc etc. That's also a lot of time spent overthinking your decisions, mistakes, progress and fears. After a particularly challenging time for us both - with a fire to level-up - myself and Rod began working together. At albeit very different stages of our careers (and lives) we both craved that sense of "team", "having each other's backs", "in this together" sort of thing.

Of course, being Photographers, we also had our own very personal goals and desires within our individual career paths. After precisely 2 years in business together, we had already gained back so much in confidence, flew fowards in skill and earned a tonne of new experiences. There was certainly some comfort in doing business together, but it was at that point we were ready to create some new pathways for ourselves.

Cue: J|M ltd, built upon the foundations of not only a decade of work and unrelenting determination from my time in business, but that important partnership and all the experience and collaborations that came from PENNMANN.

Working closely with Rod and my brilliant cinematography team Flight Dispatch, I am really proud to bring you the new era. Check out the video below for more on what we do.
